Comment:

I've seen this weird problem with internet explorer. The internet dialup to the ISP ok. It's connected ok. But the internet explorer popup a message saying "Internet Explorer Could not open the search page" when i entered urls.
On the status page it appears "Downloading from site: res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm "

Its was working ok before but don't know y?

I have tried the following:
- checked the connection, deleted and re-connected using the connection wizard.
- ping www.google.com & www.hotmail.com all reply ok. I think its not dns problem.

Anyone has any idea?

thanks.

Have you tried any other Browsers? Like Mozilla FireFox as a Browser? (www.Mozilla.com) If not you can try uninstalling IE by going to your control Panel>Add&Remove programs>Add/Remove windows Components. Look for Internet Explorer and remove it. From there restart your computer and go back to the windows components and reinstall IE.

Best give this above site a read.

You don't just uninstall Internet Explorer.

Further to street1 comment "You don't just uninstall Internet Explorer...

Internet Explorer 6 will die only when Windows XP die itself...they are inseparable, thanks to the Monopologist Uncle Gates.

You're welcome. BTW my IE6 is sleeping, leaving the entire OS undistributed I've been and still am using IE7 with no problems.
