Hi. When the computer logs on, it connects to a wireless network (which i've set it up to do) but i cannot surf the net. I have to disable the adaptor and then enable it and then i can surf the net. How can i fix this?
The adaptor details:
802.11b USB Wireless LAN adaptor.
P.S. Its not a usb device.

According to the following, the 'ASUS A4L' has both a NIC and the wireless adapter.

Hey guys, he said **it connects to a wireless network (which i've set it up to do)**

You are not helping this poster>

caso1992, I just installed a bunch of wireless Router/Modem combos in some new condos and when I ran into the problem you are having it was either the user ID or the password was typed incorrectly so the clients couldn't get on. It was actually a Bellsouth/AT&T issue, a connection, cancellation and connection again thing.

If your problem still persists, I would say you could make up a new network key for your PC and should have no problems

I really don't need a monkey on my back....hint...hint!
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results as it will help others.

XpUser4Real, Isn't correcting XpUser's post a 'little' help? :-)

I know very little about wireless, so I can't help with the problem.

Casio, was that really necessary?

It was an honest mistake. You will probably get more people willing to help if you remain civil.

".....I have to disable the adaptor and then enable it and then i can surf the net"

And then what happens? .... You get booted off the internet arbitrarily or is it lost once you reboot or is it once you log off or what?

You need to clarify how the connection is lost.

XpUser4Real, I don't normally check for private mesages, but I did just go and read yours.

The reason I posted was to let other possible responders know that the PC had an internal wireless, not an external USB one that was indicated by the prior post.

This obviously would make a difference in any suggestions given.

I agree 100% with the comment that we should not post something, just for the sake of pointing out a mistake. I guess that was your point and that wasn't my intention.

By the way, feel free to correct me in the forum for any mistakes I make. In fact I would appreciate it.

Excuse all, but the poster himself wrote:

No contradiction there, hmmm?? It, at the very least, is confusing for the careful reader, let alone using that product ID### in a search...

Turn your Caps Lock off. Using all caps in a forum is akin to shouting.

Just because it doesn't plug into a physical USB port, doesn't mean it's not using the "Universal Serial Bus", in which case it's a USB device.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
