My home page is set to google within internet properties. My problem is that every few months when i launch my browser for the first time it takes me directly to windows update. If i close the browser and launch it again it takes me to google (where it should). theres obviously something within windows set to do this every 3-4 months. Anyone know how to stop this permenently? P.S. windows update is disabled within properties and services. Have the lambs stopped crying Clarice?

I have the same issue. Maybe you should ask OVERRIDE. He or she seems to be a MS employee.

Custom Built, that's perfectly normal behavior. In the past people have expressed how they did not know how to even go to the WindowsUpdate(now MicrosoftUpdate) website. OtheHill, come on don't take our difference of opinions personally. There are many things you have replied in other numerous posts that have helped me in some way. So IE taking you to a site to update IE is normal & not an issue. :) cheers OVERRIDE

OK I will try but that is a two way street. I HAVE had the same experiences as this poster. However that hasn't bothered me enough to try to stop that action. I believe the poster indicated they simply looged on to IE and the page that opened was to the Windows Update page. I have had the same thing occur many times. Wondered about it but had better things to do than ponder the reason. BTW I am still using IE6. You aren't going to convince me at this time to go to 7. I am a victim of the problem last week with the critical update I installed causing problems because my sound chip is a Realtek HD.
