This just started happening a few days agao after I uninstalled Zonealarm and installed Sygate instead. The connection works fine for an hour or more but suddenly the connection is dropped. I try repair connection but it can't connect to the router anymore. So, I turned off the firewall and then tried reconnecting and it works fine. So, something in Sygate must be causing this. The strange thing is it's not a permanent block...what would cause it to be dropped intermittently? Restarting the computer also seems to help. Are there any particular files that scan the connection like svchost?
