Recently my Intellimouse Explorer started hanging up (pausing) and I receive a simultaneous audible "ding-dong" when it happens. It doesn't happen for the first
few minutes the machine is on, however after a few minutes it starts without warning. I get a "ding-dong" when it pauses and another when it starts up again. Sometimes in rapid succession, sometimes not. After a few of these the mouse shuts down and does not respond at all. The red light (optical mouse) which indicates the
mouse is on turns off as well. I have tried the
troubleshooting guide, uninstalling and reinstalling the mouse and updating the new drivers. Nothing has worked, please help. I searched and found some others with the same problem but no workable solutions. There is no short in the USB wire either.
Here are the specifics about my comp:Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz
1GB RAM
RAID 0 (dual 120 GB HD's)
The only other USB device hooked up is a Wacom tablet which has been hooked up without problem for quite some time. I have not installed any new software or made changes to the computer which coincide with the problem it just seems to have started out of the blue, however, I did a system restore back a week ago, before the problem started to no avail. When the Intellimouse goes bad, the Wacom tablet mouse and pen work. Thanks in advance.
Jim

Have you tried reinstalling the tablet as well? Or maybe within Device Manager delete the USB Hub and then restart and let it reinstall?
It sounds like your restore only restored a part of the files and not all of them somewhere along the USB setups...
