I had a simple question to ask. I am going to buy a laptop computer but I do not know whether to get a Intel Celeron Processor or a Pentium 4 with HT. Which is better? Were looking at a Intel® Celeron® M Processor 340(1.50GHz/400MHz FSB) or a Mobile Pentium® 4 Processor 538 w/HT Technology (3.20GHz, 533MHz FSB).

however there is probably a notable difference in cost. so it depends what your laptop will be for.
my dad uses his for typing excel word and net. so spending big money on a 3ghz laptop would mean he wouldnt utilize it. he doesnt play games just watches the ocasional movie on it

Simon,

As far as peformance is there a big difference? I am going to use this a my primary computer so I need something that can handle multi-tasking well.

**p.s. I had another question also in this forum. Would you take a look at it also. It is titled 'Intel Pentium M vs. Intel Pentium 4'.

Hi KrisCardona,

I fully agree with Simon's views.

Buying a PC should always be based upon your needs ( what you will be doing with the PC).

If the PC is just to do basic stuff, then all the extras is just a waste'

But if you are a power user, then go for the best ---P4 will give better performance than Celeron.

FYI: Dell has a few good deals on notebooks and you can customize your purchase.

Good Luck.

MoR.

all i was trying to say is a system should only be as much as you need or will need.
i mean you say its your main system. so will gaming be a major thing on this pc or not. playing music etc. thinking logically about what you need will save you money.
but as far as performance the pentium 4 surpasses the celeron
