Instant Share Devices.msi missing on reboot

August 15, 2011 at 08:48:33
Specs: Windows XP

I want to permanently uninstall HP printer. I tried removing all programs via the control panel. Now when I restart my computer, I get teh Instant Share Devices pop-up box that won't go away. I don't want anything to do with the HP printer anymore. It is gone and I want any trace of it off my computer for good. I don't want to have to reinstall it to fix my computer

I don't normally advocate registry cleaners. However, if you download CCleaner (free) and run the registry cleaner it is one of the safest. See if there are any entries that look like the HP Printer or Instant Share. If so untick all entries except those and then let it remove them.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thanks for responding. I will keep this in my pocket for a "Plan B" if my next reboot does not clean up the "Instant Share Devices" pop-ups. What I have done thus far is reinstal the minimal required parts for the HP C6130 printer (hated to do this but could not figure out another way). Then I installed freeware "Revo Unistaller Pro". From there, I was able to have it unistall HP Printer apps. It goes through the registry and files and checks for hooks. I had Revo "DELETE" all the related registry entries and files . Then I was able to go to my C:\ProgramFiles and delete the HP folder entirely!!!!

Your plan sounds fine - many ways to approach these sort of issues.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
