Hi there guys, I am sitting with a realy wierd problem.
I have a clients pc that is doing a very strange thing. Upon arrival at my shop the pc had the Login loop. I fixed that with booting up with BartPE and fixing the registry.
Now I need to uninstall Kaspersky Anti virus...no luck. As soon as I start the uninstall it comes up with the uninstall screen for about a split second then it disappears. The same thing happens when I use RevoUninstaller. Doesn't matter what I try it does NOT want to uninstall.I had to resort to going into the registry and delete anything to do with Kaspersky. Now, another funny thing...it does NOT want to install anything else. Tried to install AVG Free, Norton Antivirus 2009 and Trend, same thing. It brings up the "installing files" but then disappers again.
Is there something I'm missing? I tried chkdsk /r...nothing.
Can you please help me, this pc is making me go grazy

Yes, I logged on as administrator in normal and safe mode and same thing. Tried to uninstall with Add/Remove Programs and with Revo, no luck.

By the way, I wanted to check the version of the Windows Installer now and I discovered that there is no such directory "System32" under the windows directory???
???

Is spywareblaster installed on the computer? If so check there as they can lock down the registry as a security issue! If it isn't spywareblaster...it may be the same type of program running from a different security application!

I had Malwarebytes' Antimalware on, scanned with it, nothing. Had Adaware 2008 free on there and it picked up a couple of malware files and it cleaned it.
I used the "fix on that site you recommended "Chuck2" and it worked. I updated the windows installer from 3.0 to 3.1 and I am going to try to install Norton Anti virus 2009.
Hold thumbs it works......

Ok guys. It worked perfectly.
Loaded Norton and scanned, picked up "W32.Fujacks!html". Deleted it and the pc is now stable.Looks like Windows Installer was the culprit here. Thanks for all your help guys!!!!
