Hi there. I'm attempting to install (at the moment) Google Earth, though this problem occurs with anything that uses Installshield. Whenever I try to install something with it, I get the popup window that says something has gone wrong, and to try and close all programs and empty my temp folder. I do this, to no avail. Any ideas?

The Exact unedited Error Message might be more helpful to understand the problem you are facing than the edited version:"that says something has gone wrong, and to try and close all programs and empty my temp folder." M

You'd be surprised, that's really about it. But here y'go:
Setup has experienced an error.
Please do the following: -Close Any Running Programs -Empty your temporary folder. -Check your internet connection (internet-based setups)
Then try to run Setup again.
