I'm having problems installing Microsoft Office XP Pro.
When I go to Add Programs, with the cd inside,,, it tells me,,, Windows was unable to find the installation program. Click BACK to try again. Click Browse to find the installation program manually..???? Where is the installation program?
I also tried,,, Making an Office folder and placing it in Program files,, then dragging the contents to the folder... Yet, when I click on RUN AS,,, it sends me to "Which user account do you want to use to run this program? I write it in,,, then I get only a black Dos box showing up...
How do we install this????

When you did the Add Programs way did you select cdrom for one of the devices to look at?
How about just going to the xp office cd via explorer and clicking on setup?

hi brassylady,
Open the cd drive and put the office cd inside. (wait a few seconds)
If it does not autostart, go to my computer icon ( top left of the screen ), double click on it and go to cd drive which should be the D: drive or something other than C: or A:, cause these are the Hard drive and the floppy. So double click on the cd drive.
you'll get another window with icons (files and folders), one should be called setup. Double click on it and the office setup should start.
Before u do all this and just in case, go to start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system restore-create a restore point(give it any name)-Click on create and voila.
If something goes wrong with your office installation u can allways go back to system restore a restore your computer to how it was before your office installation try outs.
best of luck and no fear. Mistakes is the way we learn best.
