Whats the real story on installing Xp Pro on multipile computers? I hear about all this activation stuff and not being able to burn it and pass it out. Whats the real story? I know there are "pirated" copies out there, is it safe?

You cannot install Xp on multiple computers since the activation is based on a code derived from your hardware configuration. So unless you have the exact same configuration on these computers it will not work. I think most of the pirated versions out there are using the corporate release, which was the one given to computer manufacturers to install on their new computers. This obviously does not require activation and hence it can be installed on multiple computers. But it is not legal.

newbie. if you have to ask the question is it safe when it comes to pirate software do yourself a favour and quit before you start.

Their is no product activation with win xp pro...it only come with the home edition...xp pro can be installed on as many pc's as u like.

That's not true.. I bought the XP pro upgrade (academic version through edu.com $86) and it has product activation in it. The only version that doesn't have activation is the corporate version, which as stated above, unless you have a site license for it, it is illegal.
