I have this computer that im trying to get Win XP installed onto. I first installed Win98 and that worked ok but when i go to install Win XP, after it reboots a couple of times, it says "Could not install some of the neccessary components due to a I/O device error. If anyone knows what i can do to correct this, please help.

Start over. Do not install win98. Boot from the XP drive and install it. Have it format the drive. If it is an upgrade CD, it will ask you to insert the win98 CD to show proof of ownership.
