I am about to do a fresh install of xp home with the disks I received with my labtop its xp home edition service pack 2

now on the E drive/partition i have already installed win2000 server now when my computer boots its the win 2000 server that takes care of the boot menu. as this was installed after xp home on C drive.

question:
when I do a fresh install of xp home on C will i still see the win 2000 server in the boot menu?

if not what should I do?

I'm guessing the Windows 2000 Server entry of the boot menu won't be there anymore after reinstalling XP Home. However, you should be able to put it back by modifying the "boot.ini" file, which looks like this:
---------------------
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

---------------------

Good luck!

Has been discussed. However that is not the best link to use. Do not install two OSes on the same partition. That is just asking for trouble.

The easiest method for you is to simple start the WinXP install from within Win2000 server. Because server is older you can do that without issue.

Just be sure to provide the correct installation path. The Windows boot logger should give the the choice of which OS to boot to automatically.
