installing xp from usb?

CPU/Ram: p4 1.7 + 512

I got a laptop with a busted cdrom. I also have a usb external HDD (actually an HDD in enclosure). Is it even remotely possible to installed winxp without the cdrom drive?

Maybe if you create a XP install partition but I
think it only works with scsi or ide but give it a shot

But you'll need Norton Ghost and Gdisk.

Also you can install XP on the usb disk from
another CPU. Then rip a disc image from ur XP
disc and use Deamon Tools to run it from ur HD.
