How do you boot/install a Windows XP insallation disc through an external harddrive? Like if you copied the contents of an installer disc onto an NTFS external harddrive partition? How do you get this to boot? And doesn't xp have problems installing from USB? My CD drive is broke and I have an ISO I made long ago in-case this sort of thing ever happened. I need to format, but all I have is the external harddrive. Please help!

NaruFoxxy, IMHO it should work the same with one notable exception. The original installation disc expected to find it's data on the CD drive. Seems to me you need to edit that so it queries your external drive for the info (bios?). HTH. Ed in Texas.

First you need to ensure that your BIOS is setup to BOOT from a USB Device.
If you recall haow to change the BOOT order in the BIOS Set-up to use the CD, look on the same screen for an option listing USB.
There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
