Hey guys, I have a friend who has a mini laptop. She has Windows XP Home ULCPC edition installed on it. I need to format her hard drive and reinstall because of some problems she is having. I was wondering, would I be able to use a Windows XP Home OEM disk with the serial number located on the bottom? Or is the ULCPC licencing different than the regular OEM disk?

I don't have the computer in front of me right now. I will get it tonight. But in the mean time, let's say it is, because I'm pretty sure it is. If the sticker serial and the serial in use are the same, can I use an OEM disk to install XP, or do I need a special ULCPC OEM disk?

You may not need a disk at all. Check Acer's website (or the manual that came with the laptop) and see if there is a Recovery Partition.

Thanks Jennifer,

I didn't even think about a recovery partition. I pressed Alt+F10 during boot to load from the recovery partition and was able to reload the OS in a matter of minutes. Thanks again.
