Installing Windows On Evo N400c

dos, P3 700/256 MbRam
I have a compaq evo n400c, and I am trying to install windows xp home on my computer.
1. My laptop stalled during konverting to NTFS, after rebbot I couldn't access the c: drive. Not able to boot!
2. I took out the harddrive, and formatted in a nother laptop.
3. I plugged the harddisk back in my laptop, to install windows xp home, from another partion d: in dos.
4. copying files for installation and restarting.
This is where I goes wrong, because I get a messages saying. "NTLDR missing, restart computer", I do that and get again the same message ofcourse, because I can only boot from C:!!
When I boot the harddisk back in the computer where I formatted the harddisk, then i ask wheather if I want to continue the installation!! I can only boot from my c:, WHAT CAN I DO?? I can only boot from C:!!
please help me I am desparate!!

Use windows XP Original, it's very work

Why install from dos?

Put it back in original laptop, then start installation with xp disk, first thing it will ask is about partitioning, select size then format.
Then continue installation.

If there is still a problem try a new hard disk.
