installing volume control for xp

Hi All,
Somehow windows volume control has disappeared from my system. I am not being able to use any speakers or headphones. Can someone please advise me on how to install it.

Do a search of your harddrive for

sndvol32.exe

It should be in C:\WINDOWS\system32
------------------
If all is ok, then do
Try System File Checker:
Open the Command Prompt, then type:

sfc /scannow

note space between the c and /
Have XP CD in your drive.
