OK, I give up. I've been tyrying to install this thing for 2 days. I vaguely remember having this problem once in 98SE, but don't remember how I solved it. The problem is that after I d/l TweakUI and create a new folder, I click on the .exe file to tell it to extract the files to the new folder. However, TweakUI doesn't cooperate. It goes right into some kind of install (but not the full program. Hard to explain.) It just says it is going to install, period. How do I get around this? I thought the d/l fom MS may have been bad, but I've d/l'd from other sites, same problem. Thanks in advance.

JohnO, You should download the XP version of TweakUI at the link below.

Just download it, double click it and it will install and you can access it thru Start/All Programs/Powertoys for WindowsXP/TweakUI for Windows XP. The new version doesn't appear in the Control Panel anymore.
You don't want the old version for Windows XP.

Tufenuf-- Thanks. That site is where I had downloaded from. The program is just completely different. Also, I found these install directions specifically for XP: obviously wrong, but as you'll see it gives the old Control Panel method:

I was looking for the tabs, etc. Guess a lot of the features have changed.
Trying to follow tech.tv instructions gave me over 30 Error code 7023 in about 10 seconds. I didn't know what was happening. Thanks again.

JohnO, I see what you mean about the weong instructions at the techtv link. I'm glad that you got it installed and Thanks for posting back.

Both versions will work fine and co-exist very nicely...
To add the version for XP to the control panel...download and import the following script into your registry...
