Installing Software on XP

Comment:
Some software that I buy is not compatable with XP but with an update from the Web it is then OK. But XP makes it very hard to load the software, (in the first place). For example: Easy CD Creator 5. it was very hard for me to load, the system kept shutting down before I could get it loaded. Was I doing something wrong, did I have XP setup wrong??? Would like to hear different viewpoints. Thx
