ok basically i need help installing an adaptec 39160 scsi card driver so i can put windows XP on a scsi hard drive. the problem is that the motherboard does not have a slot for a floppy drive. sounds crazy huh. i've checked 3 times and compared the board against the pics that are online and there is no slot for a floppy drive on my motherboard. so i don't know what to do, because it looks like i need a floppy drive in order to install a scsi hard drive drivers so that windows OS can recognize the HD, and therefore i can installl XP on the scsi hard drive. is there a way around this? is there a way i can get windows to look for the drivers on a cd rom? i don't think that is possible as that screen never comes up. it just looks for a floppy drive. do you think i could do it with a USB floppy drive? any help would be appreciated. please post if you know. thanks

Can't believe it.

I know floppies are out of flavour now but no having an option is a bit ominous.

Personally I'm a bit old school and take a crumb of comfort from being able to boot from a floppy in a dire emergency, spose I'll grow out of it eventually lol.

Which MOBO is it so I'll know to steer well clear !

I would hope a USB floppy will work for you or possibly an external USB HD if you have access to such a thing.

Do post back with what you find as this is a subject which is increasingly cropping up in relation to SATA drivers.

Like you say that board has one but you say yours dont. I can find several things on the internet that tell how to do it supposedly but sounds to complicated for me to do! And what a hassle! If it were me and it was a must I had the scsi card I would shop around and find me a new board that supports the ram and processor you have and jerk that board out and put me in one that I knew would do what I wanted. Save that board to sell to a hated friend! Boards are really pretty cheap and could probably be a lot less hastle. Oh yeah lots of the things I read on the internet say that the usb drives wouldnt work.

Strange because I've been to several sites and read about the D915GAG and they all say Floppy support so quite why yours hasn't got it I can't imagine.

This picture clearly shows it:

Unfortunately this appears to be a newish and relatively expensive MOBO so doing as doc suggests is probably a non starter.

If you bought it recently yourself, any chance you could return it as sold misrepresented ?

Might even be worth complaining to Intel but don't hold your breath .
