Installing a second hard drive

I recently installed a secondary 40G HD to my PC. After a couple of hours of trying to figure out how to be able to format and part my HD, I realized that in the "My computer" window, the drive which I partitioned is written in blue instead of in black as for my drive c! Is that normal or am I missing something?
Also, I want to format my Primary HD. After copying all of the information that I want to keep, how should I proceed to format my disk. I want to completly reset the hard drive. No more symtem files, registration keys, etc! Thanks in advance.

Ok, how did you format the secondary disk. Sounds like you use computer mangement. Well anyways, NTFS partition Labels, in windows xp are shown as blue. It's very normal and is a quick way to differiate Windows File Systems. NTFS partitions cannot be read by Windows9x/Me.
If you format you primary you will then have to reinstall windows. Pop into the cd and boot from there.
