I recently installed Windows XP onto my computer. Everything runs great except i have no sound. i have soundblaster live value, and have done everything i can think of to get it working. i downloaded and installed the new drivers, nothing. uninstalled the SBLV from the device manager, then rebooted to let it reinstall, and i have got nothing. So if anyone can help me, id appretiate it.

had the same problem with sound when installing winxp.........you need to look for a patch or update for your sound card to make it work with winxp............after i did that , everything was fine

Hia,
First of all, Go to Creative labs web site:
http://www.americas.creative.com/welcome.asp
Download the XP drivers. Next go into device manager, and remove the sound drivers and then reboot windows to redetect them. When asked for the drivers disk, point it to the driectory you downloaded the new ones.
Also, you could try going to the Windows Update web site:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
I think there's a driver update for that sound card there too, but you may have to do all the critical updates first.

Clare.

To Clare,
I tried doing all that before, but i tried again, and i still have no sound on my system. but, a few different things are showing up on the device manager, like: instead of it saying 'Creative Game Port' it now says 'Creative SBlive game port' and also it didnt say anything about the soundcard but now it includes 'Creative SBlive Value (WDM)' I downloaded the drivers for XP, and installed them after i uninstalled and reinstalled all the sound drivers. but still no sound, heh. Thanks for the help. If you have any other suggestions on how to get it working, please do tell.

sometimes it can be the simple things that we overlook.........did you go into the master volume control to make sure that none of the options are muted ?

the instructions that clare gave to you is usually the correct procedure for updating drivers........i also tried that while installing soundblaster's updated drivers for winxp but that didn't work......what i did that worked was : went into device manager and uninstalled the old drivers but did not restart the pc ( any time that i restarted the pc , the old drivers would be detected and automatically reinstalled )...instead , i installed the new drivers and then restarted the pc and everything was fine
good luck

nothings working for this POS, so im just going to buy a nice/new soundcard. thanks for all the help.
