Vivere, SWAG, if I were you, I wouldn't do anything more than plug in the desired peripheral and reboot. Now and again, Windows seems to get confused and unsure just what to do, so it does nothing. The reboot process gives it a chance to detect periperals and access the proper driver etc.
You might consider some sort of splitter so everything can stay connected (Radio Shack?).
If that fails, you may need to get rid of something and reinstall, but think I'd try a reboot first.
HTH.

Lexmark devices prefer to be in usb port 0 to start with. Normally this is the one closest to the motherboard in the back. If you unplug the printer while the system is active the software loses contact with the printer and is unable to find it when you plug it back in. This results in having to uninstall everything that is Lexmark and reinstall the software. The web site has a removal tool as the uninstaller Lexmark provides doesn't remove some files and they cause problems reinstalling the software.
Now as for the rest of you usb woes I would get a good brand name powered hub. Put your camera and the scanner on that. I have had several Lexmark printers and thier all in one over the years but the better bang for my buck wound up being a epson c82. I can unplug that and it gets found correctly as soon as I plug it back in.

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

I'm pleased you're back up and running. The line came from an old joke.
A professor in route to a speach has a flat. It just so happen to be in front of a mental hospital. In the process of changing the tire the professor loses the lug nuts. He panics. All the while a patient has been sitting in a window watching. He yells out," Hey doc just take one lug nut from the other three wheels and put the tire back on. When you get where you're going get it fixed." The professor stops and ponders the commentary and replys, " Say that's pretty smart. What are you doing in a mental hospital?" The patient replies, " I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid." LOL
