Installation probs

Ok so I installed XP on an old laptop after it got a virus. Setup went as normal until i got the messages to look for CMPROPS.DL_ and and IEXPLORE file, couldnt find it so i skipped them. Now on loading up I have windows classic theme and no IE, and the theme cant be changed. I found the CMPROPS.DL_ file after some searching but I'm confused as where to put it.
Any help?

Extract the .dll file to C:\Windows\System32\

Pull up the console and type in...

expand c:\i386\CMPROPS.DL_ c:\windows\system32
