Each time I start my computer I get a pop-up in the screen say that the install shield wizard will prepare me for the rest of the maintainence. It stays on for a few seconds and then disappears. So what could cause that and I'm not even sure I want install shield on my computer. If I have a program that is starting up when I turn on my computer and that's what triggers the pop-up how do I find out what program it is and how do I stop this from happening? It's not a big deal just annoying as all get out to have that pop-up all the time. Thanks fot any help you can give.

Long time ago I had this problem, that was caused by an Internet Explorer update, that wants me to restart the computer. Then install shield came up with something like preparing desktop for..., can't remember exactly.
When the installation of the IE update not finishes completely, there will be left a registry entry in RunOnce, that causes to pop up this screen everytime you restart your computer.

If this is exactly your problem, post back.

Download and install the slim version of ccleaner.

Also download this program and install it.

They are both free and work very well.

InstallShield is an important Windows component. It is used by Microsoft and many other companies to install programs. The popup is simply the visual symptom of a problem which you should deal with.
