Can some one please point me to the Oo writer help file entry where it explains how to insert and move on the page an MP3 music file?
I'm adding sound to some pages but I find the menus in Writer a little difficult to use or simply confusing:
In HTML the tags/code is quite simple for playing and placing.Anyway, I tried the following....
1. The menu insert=> Movies and Sound => asked for the MP3 and I had placed my cursor at the middle of Page 3 (in my document). However up comes ( Speakonia icon) in the middle of page 1. I can't budge it nor does the MP3 play ( being Speakonia I'm not surprised)
I went to options. I tried to find preferred reproducer for music, but in preferences I've not been lucky, maybe the Writer choice is somewhere else?
2. I read through the correspondence on forum questions relating to sound and another gentleman explained it can be inserted as an ole object:
I managed to get the big arrow he spoke of, then it changed to a Mac sound Icon.
But even worse than before..... it plonked the console in the middle of the page and also it was half a page wide....very big.
I tried putting it in a one cell table. But it hops out.
To be fair, it does all the things the console should, plays, stops, changes volume... But it is un-resizable and unmovable.3. I'm looking for method three Smile That's why I'm writing this plea.
As I said in the beginning:-
Can some one please point me to the help file entry where it explains how to insert and move on the page an MP3 music file?Bye and thanks
Fred

I search Google and found this:

What a shame" - Shinedown

Many thanks Jennifer for locating a thread where others seem to have suffered the sound insertion blues like me.
I deduce I need the latest version of Java
( I installed a new version end of November, but maybe it is out of date. I'll check)
The other point about the MP3 plug-in is interesting, as I assumed it was a bit of the writer program.... but maybe it isn't.
So many thanks and I'll get back to inserting sound... I hope :-)Bye
Fred
