Gentlemen, I have a win98 os cd, that when installing to a pc, it automatically brings up{enters} the microsoft key into the blanks. My question, I have severalXP/Longhorn etc. os's & keys. Can I INSERT THE KEYS INTO THE OS FILE BEFORE BURNING TO A DISK;so that the key# will insert just as my win98? Thanks -ez

You can do an UNATTENDED INSTALL. The unattended install file is made on a XP PC & saved onto a floppy disk. Basically it asks you all the questions, location, time zone product key etc and this info is saved into the file.
When you come to install the OS, you set the PC to look at the floppy for the answers to the question it normally asks. A guy from college says he copied this file to a CD.
If you also copied the Win XP image to the same CD, you may get your wish. You will have to read more about this. The file is editable so if you had several PC which required an OS install, you could change the respective PC user names, IP addresses etc.If you get it to work, please suppliy the details here. We can all learn from your experiments.
P.S. a ghost image from the first PC will work on the rest of the machines if they have the same hardware & motherboard etc. If these items are different, when the PC first starts, it will freeze up while looking for the corrcet drivers for the respective chip sets etc.
