For some reason I the dell start up screen will occasionally freeze when booting up. It happens during the Dell logo and little ticker bar. when it freezes it reads
Deminsion 8400 Series
(frozen loading bar)
BIOS revision A02
any insight?

No insight from me. You need to provide greater details of what happened or what you were doing prior to this problem.

Possible that the harddrive is not running at its normal speed, freezing up or slowing down.
My computer took 20 min. to boot the other day.
I was watching the HDD activity indicator light,
and it would remain on, and not rapidly blinking.
Mechanical devices do have problems.

Harddrive manufacturers have software for download for testing HDD.

well there isn't much more to add. I can think of doing anything that wasent normal except thatthe computer was not turned off for a couple of days.

In order for me to get it to work (when this happens) is that i have to hit f2 and get the start up options screen. exit that and then it will load.

my DELL pc shows this problem every morning only.. first startup... numerous restarts after that doesnt give this problem.
okay, the problem is this... when i start, windows XP loading screen comes up, and then the display blacks out... and nothing. keep waiting and nothing.
i restart, and it works fine. and so on for the whole day, and then same problem next day first start.
i'm thinking it's display driver problem, but y only on the first startup? is there some other problem?
has anyone faced a simillar problem? please help, greatly appreciated. Thanks
