Hi folks: this is driving me mad! I recently bought a new laptop. The problem often comes when I'm editing text - whether using Works, Word or sometimes even typing an e-mail. If I try to insert characters into the middle of a sentence, for instance, the rest of the sentence doesn't move along - I'm typing over the end of the sentence. Don't know if I'm explaining this quite well enough - basically, whenever I go back to some text and try to insert characters, it's as if I've reached the maximum number of characters and have to type over the existing text... help....me........ :-)

Are you sure you haven't pressed the "Insert" key? It may be a toggle of another key in conjunction with the Fcn or FN key

Hi Slasherama, hi everyone

Hit the [Insert]key or [Ins]key once before inserting characters into the middle of a sentence, see if that helps...

Indeed. The insert will get you every time until you learn what it's there for. Actually.. I'm not sure why it's there!! But it will mess you up! :)

It's there to insert a character in place of what already exists. :)
