Hi my Good Friends!

I have a problem with my infrared adapter on windows XP
First of all the adapter is defined properly to the system..I mean the driver is OK and the system indicates -in the device manager- that (This device is working properly).
The problem is that I can't transfer any data between my mobile phone and the pc! and the pc can't recognize the phone.
I don't know why this problem is happening now because before the process was working perfectly.
So I decided to see the (EventViewer) administrative tool and I catched these two errors:

Error- Event ID 7000: The IrDA Protocol service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.

Error- Event ID 7001: The Infrared Monitor service depends on the IrDA Protocol service which failed to start because of the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.

Then I recognized that there is some kind of a problem that prevent the computer from detecting the devices which is trying to connect through IR port...I mean IR Adapter.

Then I Switched to the (Services) administrative tool to see if I can discover anything else.
I noticed that there is a service called (Infrared Monitor) which have this description (Supports infrared devices installed on the computer and detects other devices that are in range).

When I doubleclicked on this service a new window was opened with these information

Service Name: Irmon
Display Name: Infrared Monitor
Path to executable: D:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
Startup type: Automatic
Service Status: Stopped

and there was a button with a word (Start) on it.

My mean notice was the value (stopped) beside the Service Status....so I tried to click the [Start Button] but all i had then is a new message box saying that (Could not start the Infrare Monitor service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start).

Ok friends those were all the information I have for now....Please Help!
I will apreciate your help soooo much...even if you could give a hint..it will be sufficient for me and so helpful...

Thanks
BlueStar
p.s1 this adapter is working very good on my second system: Win98

Here is the key to your problem:

"Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start)."

IrMON requires another service to start that isn't working.

Check the event monitor for messages indicating what service(s) did not start properly.

J.
