Please, for the love of god, someone tell me how to DISABLE that horrible information bar in IE 6!! I use a page at work that displays it every time I go there, and I need to use this page constantly. This so-called "Information Bar" treats users like they're infants and is constantly disrupting my workflow!
Please help me!

Because the Internet is not a friendly but very dangerous place to visit...M$ put up the Information Bar for a very good reason - for our own good & protection). If you still don't care you can pick up the mechanism to disable the Information bar by following this procedure. I bet sooner or later you will be back begging us for greater help.

Hi,
Do you mean as on this link, copy and paste the link into address barhttp://malektips.com/internet_explorer_6_xp_service_pack_2_0006.html

To XpUser... shame on you. First of all, your link was useless. No information about how to *entirely* disable the information bar. Second of all, you should have some faith in people. Sorry to disappoint you and your predisposition towards fear, but the internet is really not all that bad. All it takes is some critical thought while browsing. You should try it sometime.
bobhome... yeah I found that link too. The thing about that is... it directly contradicts what can be found in MS's help about the info bar, and even if it works to disable the info bar for downloads and ActiveX, it does not *entirely* disable the bar. So sadly I'm stuck with it at work... I would just use Firefox, but the web-based (thin client) MS Outlook interface utilized by my company does not support firefox very well... :(
Actually... screw this I'm switching to Firefox and I'll just use the Outlook fat client.I still want to know how to disable the information bar though. Let me know if anyone comes up with something....

sdh13,
Shame on you for not reading the entire article. Get your glasses and read the following quoted from the article:
Important You can turn off the Information Bar in Internet Explorer by lowering the default security settings. However, we strongly recommend that you leave these security settings at their default level or higher. The default security settings in Internet Explorer are designed to help protect your computer from viruses and from attacks over the Internet
Next time be more cordinal not a wise guy.
Good day and good bye!

""Information Bar" treats users like they're infants and is constantly disrupting my workflow!"
It's not an interuption...it is a warning.
Just add that one website (*.xyz.com) to the popup blocker's Allowed sites and then don't worry about it. (Tools, Popup Blocker, Popup Blocker Settings)
From that same panel you can deselect the Information bar to keep it from helping you.And...do try to be grateful for anyone attempting to help you.
Regards,
Bryan
