I was trying to do a windows update 330994 which is for Outlook Express 6 Sp1, when I try to update I get an error stating:
Fails to install error: The software you are installing has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows xp, This software will not be installed contact your system administrator.
The thing I don't understand is this is Microsoft' update why don't it see that? Then I get another error message:
INF Install failure reason: no signature was present in the subject. Has anyone experienced this error and if so is there a fix?
Thanks for your help,
Chris

It sounds like the file updat.inf is corrupted.
Go to your administrative tools in the control panel click it and open the services.
Look for the file "Cryptographic services". If it is disabled, change it to automatic, and then try to install the update again.
If that does not work go back to same as above and disable it.
Then navigate to windows/system32/catroot2. Open the catroot2 folder and go to edit select all and then delete. It will delete all but the files that have an .ebd extension I believe.
Then go back to adm tools/services and restart the Cryptographic service back to automatic.
You should now be able to install your update.
Oops, I would reboot before the install.
Hope this helps....
You can go to windows/system32/catroot2 folder.
