i own a seagate SATA hard disk on a gigabyte ga-81k1100 board. The drive, which contains important data, stopped responding, showing no contents/one two files after a system restart. i scheduled a chkdsk check after windows error checking kept on hanging. checkdisk found a few unreadable sectors, fixed them in the full 5 phases, but had an "unspecified error" after completeion of free space check. after that, my drive gives an error "g:\ is not accesible, incorrect function" and chkdsk also fails to work. what could be the probable cause and fix?

Download a diagnostic from the hard drive manufacturer's web site and run it. I hope you have a floppy drive.
