Hey all,
I have a user with xp pro and office xp and an irritating menu problem. when ya click on anything of the menu sort, be it start, or any pull-down menu on ANY screen in ANY program, it may take anywhere between 1 to 5 clicks to get the menu to stay showing to choose stuff from it like normal. it just keeps flashing for less than a second when you click it. I checked mouse settings also - nothing out of the ordinary there.
I put xp sp2 and all updates including office updates but that didn't fix it yet. I would be hard pressed to think it would be a video card driver problem, as it only is with the menus. but I just may try that if no better idea comes my direction real soon.
any input or advice would be very greatly appreciated as this user is a lead position in payroll - <"kinda"> important if you know what I mean. ;) (don't bite the hand that feeds you) sort of thing.
anyway, thanks for any feedback!
Chuck

System restore until it stops. Thats all i can give. otherwise, get some spyware removal, or virus checker (I'd assume you have this already). I agree it can't be a graphics problem. It's important to remember the last 7 days of pc activity. I do, and if something goes wrong, I look back on what i did in the past 7 days that may have caused it. I doesn't take much space to record your history for 7 days. It helps ;o)

Hi Chuck
You could try changing a registry setting.
Run REGEDIT
Go to...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Control Panel\DesktopChange the value for MenuShowDelay to any number between 0 (fastest) and 4000 (slowest)
I'm not sure what is default, but I have mine set to 200.
