Specs: Windows XP sp2, intel pentium 4 516
Tried to start my computer up and it went onto safe mode screen. When i press enter in safe mode it just goes back to same screen, same with any other prompt.

Have tried pressing f8 from reboot and anything i press just takes me back to the safe mode screen.

I would like to get into my files before i restore the computer as have loads of collage work on there.

I have no windows cd as it came pre-loaded on here.

Please help.

Without a CD there isn't much you can do to repair.

Try using Knoppix to copy the files. Knoppix is a live verson of Linux. Knoppix installs to and runs from one CDR. Get Knoppix from the link below. Get the first file from the bottom that is 696MB.

You should be able to contact E-machines and obtain at least a Recovery CD.

Collage? :-)

For what it's worth to XP users: When you click on the 'Command Prompt' you are just causing the 'Command prompt' to be displayed. This prompt gives you access to the 'NT Virtual DOS Manager'.

aegis, I assumed by using the word "collage" that the user is an artist. :)

Did you read my response about Knoppix.

You should be able to copy all your personal files. If you don't want to bother then that is a different story. You have been geven a viable option. I provided a download link to get an ISO of Knoppix.

If you don't know what to do with the ISO you can ask for help in a new post.
