I have uninstalled win xp home edition due to some error, and then when i reinstall it, during the setup this prompts:
Error:
The signature for Windows XP Home Edition Setup is invalid. The error code is fffffdf0.
The system cannot find message text for message number 0xfffffdf0 in the message file for syssetup.dll.
***Fatal Error:
Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information.
***
Please help as i need to get my win xp running. Many thanks.

this from microsoft:
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Setup does not delete all of the files in the WinDir\System32\Catroot2 folder during removal of the earlier version of Windows. WinDir is the Windows installation folder.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, rename the %WinDir%\System32\Catroot2 folder either by using the Windows XP user interface or at a command prompt.follow up links ;

you could always just reformat your hard drive and reinstall xp fresh.
It is what i would have done, personally, as there is just too many bad issuses that come from upgrades and overinstalls. Simply by the fact that no one can guarrantee their system is in perfect health to begin with before upgrading or reinstalling something.
REFORMAT and do a clean install of xp.
