Imaged dragged from Word stuck on desktop

January 28, 2011 at 11:15:49
Specs: Windows XP
I wanted to save a picture from a Word document, and tried dragging to my desktop. Now the picture is PART of my desktop, and I can't get rid of it. It's failry small, about 3 inches on a side, and it's towards the bottom of my screen. I can't click on it or alter it in any way that I've tried, and it doesn't show as a desktop item. Help!

Change it to "none" then change it back to whatever you want. See if that gets rid of it.

Nope, that didn't do it. It's not a background picture, as my background is still present. This one sits on top of my background picture (but only covering an area about 3X4 inches).

Type explorer in the Run box and hit Enter key. Look in the folder "Desktop" and see if there is anything odd there that might account for it. If this is what you have already done then you could try using System Restore to before this drag and drop took place. It's a weird one!

We all live on a ball.

I fixed it! I right-click on the desktop, went to Properties, Desktop, Customize Desktop, Web. The picture was listed in the "Web Pages" window. I deleted it there, the picture on my desktop went away.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
