Comment:

I thought I had a RAM failure when my every thing I clicked was slowed down to a virtual halt! Then when I finally got the task manager up I noticed that a particular process was running and it hogged almost all of the processing. It was called CIVX.SVC. Is this supposed to be there, because when I end process everything is back to normal. Can I remove it somehow?

Hi Dave,
This sounds suspicious...Let's see where it is loading from.

Download 'Hijack This!'. Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, click "Save Log", and copy and paste it in a reply.
HijackThis!

Hi Dave,
I don't see CIVX.SVC loading anywhere..
Try this, Run HT again and check the following items. Next, close all browser Windows, and have HT 'fix checked'.

You Must restart your computer when you're done.

After restarting uninstall HelpExpress and WeatherBug.

Look to see if CIVX.SVC has loaded again..If it has, end process on it and locate the file and send me a zipped copy to analyze.
Click my name for the email addy.

Are you the one who disabled these?
