I have this disgusting Ilook search engine that suddenly became my home page in explorer. I can NOT get rid of it. And to boot since it's been mysteriously loaded for me, I have pop up ads by the hundreds. HELPPPP How can I get this Ilook off my computer. I tried everything in explorer..ie changing the home page etc.
Thanks

Your best bet is to subscribe to Fred Langa's Langa list.It cost $12.oo per year but you'll find it worth a lot more. He has thousands of subscribers and they contribute as well. Once you have subscribed then you can download his archived letters. The info you are seeking is in the Sept 2003 letters.

And to add to Solarian's post, go here and download Hijack This. Then post the log file here.
It will not cost you $12.00 either.

The first thing you need to do is go into Internet options in Control Panel and select your home page and delete the last one. Next, go to www.panicware.com and download the free pop-up stopper.

Thanks to all who responded but nothing has worked. It seems it works when I go in and try to remove it from the directory. I did find the files etc and deleted them. But when I reboot and go into explorer again, it happens again, Ilook comes up and the files reappear.
This is really a tough nut!!!!
Any more suggestions??

John,
I had a coded type of version. It wasnt named but contained the .dll, .ineb codes on the back. It was introduced into my suystem on Friday so i suspected that was the program.
I deleted those 4 files and apparaenty, that wasnt it because i still have it. I have downloaded spybot. It finds the files. I delete them, The i-look then comes back when I go into explorer. This is the wierdest thing.
It is relentless.

Dave , did you remove the variants as per this . ( you can copy & paste the commands )
Print this , to make sure you dont miss any steps .

Removal
Open the 'Downloaded Program Files' folder in the Windows folder. Right-click the object called 'I-Lookup.com Bar' (Ineb and Abeb variants), 'GlobalWebSearch.com Bar' (Gws and Chgrgs variants), 'SearchBus.com Bar' (Sbus variant), 'GlobalToolbar.com Bar' (Drbr variant) or 'Search Bar' (Bmeb variant). Click 'Remove'.Next, open a DOS command prompt window (Start->Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt) and enter the following commands. For the Ineb variant:
cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u Ineb.dll
Or for Gws:cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u GWS.dll
Or for Chgrgs:cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u Chgrgs.dll
Or for Abeb:cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u abeb.dll
Or for Bmeb:cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u bmeb.dll
Or for Sbus:cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u sbus.dll
Or for Drbr:cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u drbr.dllFinally use Internet Options->Programs->Reset Web Settings to get the normal search sidebar back, reset your homepage, and delete the extra bookmarks added to the Favorites menu.
If you like, you can also open the registry (Start->Run->type in regedit & press Enter) and delete the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ineb to clean up.
