Ok I have the same provider and the same problem except that I have opened my ports on my router port 21 and 80 that is for FTP and WWW respectively and I still can't access it through the gateway IP using the port # ie: 24.200.000.0:777 let's say. It's not clear to me what the problem is. Also I'm not certain of that provider's policy on personal webhosting but how would that affect FTP? I'm quite sure they would allow FTP since they charge extra download fees.

Oops never mind the first line of my post. I'm having a problem with IIS and my router firewall. If more details are needed please ask me I will answer.

I personally dont like IIS, i find bulletproof ftp to be much easier to configure, and it works for me. =D

Thanks but not really the solution I was looking for...anyone else? Firewall problems using routers and IIS?

howdy...
So, you have a router, and IIS.
First thing, is the PC set to have a static IP? that would be a good starting point.
Second, do you have a software firewall setup on your Windows PC? This is sometimes overlooked. If there is a software firewall enabled, either open the ports necessary or remove all-together since your router should be acting as a pretty secure firewall.
Lastly, if the port is opened and configured properly with the Router as well as my previous two points... if it still doesn't work... make sure the IIS service is actually working. Try something like http://localhost or ftp to localhost.
Chad

Well my router distributes my IP's of course and I've set a range for that. It's always the same but because I"ve set my "lease time" on that range of IP's to "FOREVER". Now the IP coming from my service provider is supposed to be dynamic but it usually stays the same for a few months at a time.
The firewall is part of the router. The only software I have in terms of firewall manipulation is the software I installed to configure my router.
The ports on the router are probably not configured properly but internally if I type in http://computername/ it gets resolved properly also ftp://computername/ works. This also works with my internal IP(given by the router) however if I type localhost it doesn't work. That's why I'm confused. It seems to work but not full well.
Oh and thanks for the help so far Chad!

Correction...when I type http://192.168...myIP/ it works however I have to use my XP logon and password. If I use my COMPUTERNAME I don't need to enter a username or password.

I've installed a program called GuildFTPd and the same problem is occuring. I can't get to it from the GATEWAY IP which is assigned to the router.
