IIS 6.0 won't work anymore (running on Windows XP Pro). I first noticed the problem when http://localhost consistantly wouldn't load. So I tried to expand the IIS node in Computer Manager and it froze. After CTRL-ALT-DEL it, I tried uninstalling IIS through the Add/Remove Windows Components program (put the Windows XP Pro CD in the drive), and the progress bar took almost half an hour to start moving. At first I thought it was freezing again, but once it started to move, it got half way through when it asked me to to insert the CD with "custsat.dll" on it. I had the Windows XP Pro CD in the drive, but I guess it couldn't find it there. Finally, I just said cancel and gave up.
There's 2 possible solutions I want to try, and I need the advice of an expert:
1) Erase all IIS files manually. If I reboot in safe mode, is it possible to go into the IIS folder (Is there such a folder? Where would I find it?) and remove all the files. Is this safe? Is there more to it than this? Would there be anything I have to do before/after this to ensure everything in my system still works properly?
2) Find a copy of custsat.dll from elsewhere and browse to it the next time I try to uninstall IIS the normal way. Can I get this from anywhere? Would it work this way?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
PS - What is custsat.dll anyway?

How did you install IIS 6.0? That is a 2003 server product I thought. I assume you are not talking about the IIS 6.0 Manager for XP.
I would do a system restore to a time when it did work.
