iexplorer.exe on WTM

Specs: Windows XP
Hi

I'm really puzzled cos when I looked at windows task manager iexplorer was open 4 times on the processes tab, with mem usage of 183,632K, 88,600K, 10,628K and 8,312K. Why is it there more than once and can I turn one or more of "them" off? OK so I am online at the moment, but surely that means it should only be there once?

iexplorer.exe is a virus infection. You need to make sure you have a updated anti-virus program. Disable System Restore, scan the system, removing the infection, and then after a successful reboot, re-enable System Restore.

If you don't have anti-virus installed, do an online scan. There are several available.

Did an update on Norton Abti-virus and comprehensive scan turned up nothing. Went online to Symantec and did a virus scan - again, nothing. With it saying iexplorer.exe I thought it was a genuine process - internet explorer or something?
