I've been looking, but---- So can someone give me a clue toward stopping the little icon from coming up on the explorer bar? Thanks for any help.

The Privacy Tab is integral with Internet Explorer. When you visit a site on the net, that site can store information about you in a "cookie" that resides on your computer. The Privacy Tab is there to help you manage cookie settings. Some sites have a compact privacy policy ( which is a statement in condensed computer-readable form about how a site handles personal information) and others do not, hence, the Privacy Tab which is there for your protection.
If you want to get rid of it, uninstall Internet Explorer and go with another browser such as Opera.

Hello JohnO, FredF, hello everyone,

Go to your Internet Options and Privacy.

Select the Advanced Tab.

What is selected there?

I don't get it having Accept checked for both First and Third party cookies.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi Mesich-- Don't see you around much on the XP Forum. You still sticking with 98SE?

Guess I didn't go far enough in my post- I also accept First and Third party cookies. That's why I've got a problem with the icon being there. I prefer to manage cookies with AdAware now and then.

Hi JohnO, hello everyone,

Oh yes, still with 98SE. I also use WinXP. I find WinXP a much more productive operating system for myself. Both have IE6 SP1 installed.

I just noticed I do have that little privacy report icon. I was looking in the wrong place. :-0

I shall search around and play a bit trying to remove it. Let me know if you find something also.

Best Regards and wishes to you and yours,
Mesich

Hello JohnO, FredF, hello everyone,

I managed to get it to go away, at least so far by going moving the slider bar all the way down in Privacy to Accept All Cookies.

Best Regards,
Mesich

JohnO, If you have anything in your Restricted sites for Internet under the Security tab in Internet Options it will show up on the taskbar whenever one of those sites is incorporated into a web site.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Tufenuf,I've got a mess of stuff there. I guess I'll just have to ignore it, or I'll probably wear myself out emptying the Cookies folder. I hadn't had that icon for a long time, but now I remember setting IE back to default about a week ago. That must have brought it back. Oh well, it's small, anyway.
