IE8 status Error on Page?

December 27, 2009 at 13:08:56
Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, 3.166 GHz / 4093 MB
I am working on my daughter's computer. It hasn't been defraged or updated for several months, so I am doing all this. Only problem is everytime I open IE 8, I get a message in the lower Left corner in the Status bar that has the Yellow triangle with the text "Error on page" and it takes about 5 or so minutes for the page to open. What causes this error?

OS: Windows Vista 64/Ubuntu 64
CPU/Ram: E8500/4GB PC6400
Manufacturer/Model: AVA Direct / Built online

Not sure what you are referring to. May be a Vista thing. Why are you posting in the WinXP forum?

Well, probably because I am writing this note on my computer, which has Vista, but working on a computer with Windows XP, which has this particular problem. Thanks for the response anyway.

Problem has been solved. Had a long talk with AT&T support and they talked me through some configuration settings plus updating my firmware and software of the Quicksilver USB Wireless adapter(air card).

Thanks for getting back.

Are you running Uverse or DSL?

Not familiar with Uverse and I am not running DSL. I am using an Air Card(Quicksilver USB adapter) from AT&T which normally connects to a Laptop, but in this case I have it connected to my daughter's Desktop. Part of her Cell phone service. To my best knowledge, it is a Wireless modem. See link below. I appreciate your response OtheHill. This is my first time dealing with anything Wireless. Happy New Year.

Run IE Reset Fixit Tool: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=964...
Then restart Internet Explorer

For any such future issues

So you don't have any wired internet service into your home?

FYI, Uverse is AT&T's method of providing TV, phone and internet services.

No, not in my home. Remember, this computer that had these problems was my daughter's computer. I have no idea what kind of service she has with AT&T. I was just trying to help her out by working on her computer. I personally only have DSL from Verzion, and thats it. Like I said before, I have never messed with anything wireless. This was my first experience. To kimsland, what was this link you sent me and what does it do? I was not about to download and run a program I know nothing about.

Good point

Here is the information on that Fixit tool: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

I run IE Reset often, so as to clear out any addons and Browser Helper Objects and clear out all the cache.
But I'll post the MS page (instead of the direct download link) in future
