IE8 Slows Computer

After installing IE8, everything on the computer is running very slowly. (Not just internet stuff) Is this a known problem with IE8 ? Any ideas on curing it? Thanks
Do you have beta version? If so then get latest version.
Might look at perfmon and taskman to see what is going on.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
