IE7 - not retaining site passwords

Comment:
Since updating IE6 to IE7 two days ago, when I shut down or reboot, my online sites do not retain my password log-in, as they used to with IE6. Each morning I have to re-log in on sites I use regularly during the day, then they will retain the log-in until the next re-start.

check to see if your options for browser history didn't somehow get changed under:
TOOLS > Internet Options > Browsing History > Settings
Also there is a Service in the Services Panel (Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services) called "Protected Storage". Make sure that is still set to Automatic and successfully started, if it isn't then check it's dependancies (RPC service) and/or the event viewer for potential startup errors.

Hi DickJ,
If you are running CCleaner, that could be your problem.
If you are using CCleaner:
Open Crap Cleaner > click on 'cleaner' > then under 'Internet Explorer' unclick the 'delete index.dat files' entry.
Also, if you have CCleaner set to run at startup you have to disable that as well.
CCleaner acknowledges this to be a problem and is working on a fix.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Phil

Thanks trdj and Phil. Apparently it is the CCleaner bug that bit me. I have unchecked 'delete index.dat files' and IE7 now seems to be retaining my site log-ins and passwords. Guess I'd better post on their Forum. Thanks again!
