Although I manually download all Microsoft updates, I didn't want IE7 inadvertantly installed on my PC in the future - until I was ready. So I went to the MS site to download their Internet Explorer 7 Blocker Toolkit.
My PC failed both the standard and alternate validation test, and I was forced to download the toolkit from BetaNews.
Here's the payoff: Just two hours ago, I passed the validation test (as I do every Patch Tuesday) at Microsoft's site and proceeded to download the latest updates for XP.
Yup. My XP is authentic; I've still got the five-year-old receipt from the major chain store where I bought it.

Nope. It's now IE7 Release Candidate 1. My understanding is that the production IE7 will be dumped on us on or about November 1st.

from the horse's mouth...
According to Scott Graff, Microsoft program manager for IE7 Compatibility, the browser will be released this month:
The final release of IE7 is fast approaching … and I mean really fast … and will be delivered to customers via Automatic Updates a few weeks after it’s available for download.

I have been using it for a few months now and Have updated to the RC1 and have no complaints except the flash blocking problem.
I just can't seem to get flash to install regardless of all the sugestions from M$. This in itself is really starting to piss me off as I think that I am savy enough to know about flash programs to know whether I need it or want to use flash.

it won't be this month. microsoft is asking to have the blocking tool in place by Nov 1st.
but maybe the ministry of love is about to fool you again :-)
however, they won't dump it on me.

hihihi, this is funny. why does one have to pass the validation to download this tool? I mean, if your windows is not genuine, then IE7 won't install anyway, so what's the point here?

Hello
I use since months the new release of IE 7, and I want to say the product is wonderful !!! the possibility to have two pages opened together, the anti-popup program installed and the new anti-phising system are very good !!!
I updated from IE 6 version to the IE 7.
But I knew perfectly before it's impossible to come back from version 7 to version 6, if you try you get a fatal crash and you need to restore all your computer totally...
This is maybe why we hear so many times about big problems with this program....."Essential is to participate.. Pierre de Coubertin"
