Comment:

I just installed the latest IE7 RC1 but now no online virus-scans work for me.

I found out that most online virus-scans (Trend-Micro, Symantec and Panda) don't yet support IE7. They also don't support Firefox because ActiveX is usually needed.

So, is there a reliable and free anti-virus program that I could use, one that is easy to uninstall once the online virus-scans start supporting IE7?

OK, I guess I'll have to try that, even though it install MS Genuine Advantage.

I've avoided that piece of crap for so long.

Thanks

I'm not suggesting that you use Windows OneCare Live from M$ (it's not free). All I am saying is just that it does work with IE7.

The On-line Full Service Scan is free from M$ and works fine with IE7 RC1:

Right, OK.

I see there's a 90-day trial of the full version of OneCare.

I'll first try the On-line Full Service Scan and see what that's all about.

Thanks

Could someone enlighten me please, why so many people dodge that Windows Genuine Advantage? Doesn't it simply verify the legality of your Windows, and then vanish and not bother you anymore?
I'd really like to know because I'm curious as to why people seem so frightened by it..... What am I missing here???
Thanks!

I wish it would vanish after You used it once BUT when it first came out, it collected so much information about your computer and programs and sent it back to Microsoft HQ it was almost classified as spyware. Also, it did this every day but after complaints microsoft changed it to every two weeks. Microsoft is currently being sued under anti-spyware statutes over WGA's non-disclosed "phone home" behavior. The outcome of the lawsuit has not been determined.*

Oh, I see now... I wasn't aware that it collected personal info like that. Thanks for letting me know... Too late in my case, lol... I already verified with 'em.
Maybe they now know what kind of car I drive, lol ???
