IE6 loading time?? with no http://

Ok IE6 takes 2 minutes to load a page if i dont type http:// infront of it, but loads any page instantly if i do. Previously IE automatically appended this and loaded the pages fine. What i can tell you: Internet connection is Cable Im using a lynksis router with two cpus (the other cpu can surf net fine) I used adaware, spybot, and cwshredder after discovering this prob and did not help. I am using Norton Internet Security 2004 and no the firewall is not blocking IE, this was happening before i loaded it. I tried replacing the hosts file, and resetting it to default. I tried reinstalling using add remove progs after using the spyware cleaners and nothing changed. ITS STILL NOT WORKING!!!!!
